Hyae Ryung Kim is a second-year student in the PhD program in Sustainable Development. Her main research interest lies in the fields of Energy Policy, Environmental Economics and Climate Change. She is particularly interested in promoting sustainable energy as well as supporting climate-resilient and low-carbon development in developing countries by utilizing climate finance effectively.

She shaped her professional and academic career to take an integrated and intellectual vision across sustainable environment and economic development in African and Asian developing countries. Before joining Columbia, Hyae Ryung worked with the African Development Bank and PwC Consulting. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering and a Master’s degree in Technology Management, Economics and Policy from Seoul National University. She was a PhD Candidate and Research Fellow in Innovation Economics at Berlin University of Technology in Germany.
